SYAO week 3

Another week over at Paper Secrets and I've made it through week 3, lol!  Here is this weeks sketch:

I have used Fancy Pants All Fall line for this layout, I love the colors!  Rubons also from the same line and I added some rhinestones to each of the flowers to bling it up a bit. Along with the sketch we had to include 4 different embellishments from a list..I used rubons, staples, bling, edge punch and stitching for my technique.   Now bring on week 4..woohoo!

SYAO week 2...and a little treatbox

Happy Valentines Day!  We have a sick little one in the house, the stomach bug caught up with him and hubby and I spent all night on the couch taking care of him. Poor little guy.  But this afternoon he was feeling a little better so I managed to get my week 2 sketch finished up for SYAO2 over at Paper Secrets .  Also I wanted to show you a little Chocolate treat box  made for a design project over at Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog. So lets get started.  Here is this weeks sketch and my take on it:

And a little close up..I just love those tickets and the wooden buttons!!
Supplies:  Colorbok adhesive fabric, cardstock stickers, and clear sticker phrases
Roses: Wild Orchid Crafts
Flourish and wooden buttons: Prima
vintage note tape: Tim Holtz
Ribbon: my stash

And now for my little Chocolate box....my son gave this to his teacher for Valentine's Day filled with little Ghiradelli squares..yumm!
Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day with those you love..I'm off to throw some steaks on the grill.   Hugs,T

SYAO week 1

Week one is behind me..woohoo!  We had a fun sketch this week over at Paper Secrets but I had to put a little thought into it to pull it off..no throwing this one together.  I picked a few pictures from our 2010 trip to the Smokies for Christmas, just goes to show how far I am behind in getting my pictures all scrapped.. :)  So here is the sketch for this week, we were to also choose 3 elements and 1 technique from a list. I chose Glimmer Misting for my technique, and staples, twine, chipboard, and rubons for my elements:

And here is what I came up with for the sketch:

" Big Deal " Scrapbook Place challenge week 4

So our "Big Deal" challenge this week over at Scrapbook Place was to use a large photo for your focal point..easy peasy..especially since I LOVE 5x7 prints and order mostly that size.  Once again I went to my My Minds Eye stash for this layout..I just love this collection!
I used a photo of the boys at the train tracks, this is one of favorite photos of the boys! Added a MME rubon, some Wild Orchid Crafts roses, and a little stamped sentiment.

SYAO 2 challenge

So I'm taking the plunge and joining the ScrapYour $ss off challenge over at Paper Secrets ..so who wants to join me??  You have to be registered by Feb. 1..so get a move on.  :)

MME sketch challenge

I found this awesome sketch over at the My Minds Eye blog with the theme of "new"..so I thought what a perfect layout for my new Nephew. This is my brother and his first child Davey..we just love him, he is so precious to us!!

I have used papers from the first Lost&Found collection for the background, the circles and the rosette.  In addition to the papers the journal box and quote are also from an older MME line I had stashed away..but they just went perfectly with this layout. Pearl/rhinestone flourish by Prima. Metals from Making Memories.

"Outside the Box" week 3 Scrapbook Place challenge

So our challenge for this week over at Scrapbook Place is to think "Outside the Box"...outline your image with an embellishment of some sort.  I chose velvet ric-rak in a rust orange color to outline my image.
I have layered a few pieces of MME lost&found "Sunshine" pieces. The I and U were chipboard pieces from my alpha stash.  Flowers by Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts. Velvet ric-rak by Basic Grey. Brown Tulle from Hobby Lobby.  LOL..I just realized a stray piece of the tulle is sticking to the bottom of the card, what a terrible photographer I am..haha!  Anyway, this little card is for Hubby..its as masculine as I could manage..haha..I'm not very good at doing masculine cards, but I hope he likes it.  :)

Scrapbook Place week 2 challenge

So I made this card a week or so ago for a challenge over at Scrapbook Place..it was a blue/black/silver challenge. But I sent it to my sweet friend and wanted her to receive it before I posted the pic. So now that its in her hands I can show you.
So according to the "no buy" rule..I have used papers from my stash, long forgotten hydrangeas,
some chipboard stickers I found in my bin that matched perfectly, a rhinestone flourish I've been hoarding, and this sweet sweet little digi image which you can pick up for free

Happy Sunday!!

So we saw a little snow here in NC on Friday morning..just a little dusting but with a promise that Winter is definately here.  Just a few weeks ago we were putting up Christmas lights outside with shorts on, now its BRRR cold! But I welcome Winter because that puts us that much closer to Spring, and I do LOVE Spring!

So today I wanted to share another Valentine card that I have made using some more of the My Minds Eye paper pad I hold so dear....just love it!! I knew I should have bought more, lol!  These patterns are from the Lost & Found 2 Blush 6x6 pad.  I've added a couple pieces of ribbons I picked up at Hobby Lobby awhile back..love the pink sparkly tulle!  I bunched it up a little in the center..not exactly what I had planned in my head for it to look like, lol..but it will have to work since its stapled..heehee!    Have a great rest of the weekend!  I am looking forward to a day off tomorrow!    Hugs,T

Vintage tag

I've just finished up another vintage inspired tag..i'm so in love with the vintage style right now. Ive used a vintage cut out from Crafty Secrets along with a Crafty Secrets chipboard frame sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink in stormy sky and aged photo.  The tag is color washed in the same inks.  Flower and bronze pearls by Prima.  Pearl stick pin by Maya Road. Crinkled seam binding hand dyed by me. I have used one of the little watchmaker vials and added a vintage sheet music scrap around it with a Crate Paper sentiment. Cardstock stickers also by Crate Paper.  Now..see the little watch face, isn't it just perfect!  I found it at SteamTimeSupplies Etsy store..please go check out this little shop for some things you just can't live without!
Now I'm off to my Nephew's 2nd birthday party, can't believe he is 2 already!  Wow, time flies!  Enjoy your weekend..its cool and crisp today in TN...my favorite season!

I have used one of the vintage watchmaker vials and attached a bit of vintage sheet music around it, inside you will find a tiny silver key and lock..I adore little keys!!  Pearl and rhinestone embellishments by Prima.  I added in two beautiful roses by Wild Orchid Crafts spritzed with a little walnut stain.  Why don't you join us over at Scrapbook place challenge blog, we would love to see your creations!

Vintage glass watchmaker vials

So I was born in the wrong era..my husband tells me this all the time, I'm a romantic at heart and love all things vintage!  I just paid a small fortune for two boxes of antique watchmaker vials..I had to have them, they were calling my name..lol!   I have marvelous plans for each of them..but in the meantime I have several sets to spare and listed them on eBay for a set of 5. When I was searching to buy these I found them anywhere from $0.75 ea. to $1.50 ea. so I have mine listed for $0.60ea. because I'm not really looking to make money off of them but would like to downsize this lot..they are so lovely!!  And with so many uses, wouldn't they be wonderful in a Tim Holtz collage.  Love them!!   So if you are interested have a look at my auction: http://tinyurl.com/3bf54an    wouldn't they be so lovely with a piece of vintage sheet music tucked away inside with a little ribbon..

ATC challenge

I would like to invite you to join us this week over at Scrapbook Place challenge blog for a fun new challenge, Artist Trading Cards!  I designed mine using a Tim Holtz stamp I just acquired, sheet music is one of my most favorite embellishments... I would use it on every creation if I could, so this stamp is dear to me because it has both sheet music and birds..woohooo!   Also by Tim Holtz, you will find the background distressed with alcohol inks..this is new to me and it was a challenge indeed trying to get the colors blended the way I like. I colored the metal corner piece with copics and added a couple little pearls for added dimension.  Hope you like!  Now I would like to send you over to my friend Karen's blog and check out her beautiful ATC's!!

3D challenge

This week over at Scrapbook Place challenge blog the design team girls are working on 3D projects.  While trying to decide what to use for my 3D project, my Mom came to mind.. She just made a room in her house for all her heritage vintage things, so I thought a framed collage would be great to add to her room. I can't deny that I have the very best Mom in the whole world so I was very excited to put together a framed piece of art of all her favorite things..buttons, lace, old keys and watches, pins and birds. Hope she likes it ;)  Also a special thank you to Anna for the gorgeous pearl flourishes..love em!!

Supplies:
DP, stickers, chipboard bird, diecut: Colorbok "flea market"
Lace: Maya Road
Button: Making Memories
Flower: Prima
Key and Watch and stick pins: K&Company

Cumberland Island

Cumberland Island was beautiful indeed and we are all in agreement that it was well worth the 4hr. round trip from Savannah! Although I was beginning to have second thoughts when trudging through a half mile of sand dunes to get to the beach, lol!  But the mansion ruins and the wild horses were stunning. The walk to the ruins was a treat in itself with all the huge oaks with moss hanging over the trails creating a canopy to shade the sun. This is one of those little places that everyone needs to have on their bucket list, its full of peace and tranquility and alot of history!

Savannah up close...

Today we took the Old Town Trolley around the historic part of Savannah, the trees and houses were amazing!  I have a few pictures I wanted to share for anyone who has never experienced Savannah.
